Something Wicked This Way Comes

The book I read was Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. I choose this book because I love books that make you want to read the next chapter! My book is about 2 boys named William Halloway, and Jim Nightshade who figure out what happens when a twisted carnival comes to town! They meet up with Mr. Corosetti the barber, who smells the cotton candy and tells them a carnival is coming. The boys find the flier and enter its spell!
"The merry-go-round was running yes, but...It was running backwards!"(Something Wicked This Way Comes, pg.77) When Jim and Will went back to the carnival, they wanted to get on the merry-go-round. When they got there the sign said out of order. 2 men told them to go and come back later. Instead of leaving, Jim and Will climbed up a tree and watched one of the men get younger as the the merry-go-round ran backwards! Will and Jim are trying to figure out who and what this person is.
I loved my book. I loved it for 3 reasons. the first reason is, at the beginning of the book , its kind of boring. Then all of a sudden boom! Something wicked happened! The second reason is that I was told that Bradbury 's books are amazing and they are. The third reason is that the book was like an adventure. I would recommend the book to people who like adventures and being in thier own little world, because that is definitely where the book is going to take you. Into your own little world!

Among the Hidden

Hello, my name is Adrian J and I read the book Among the Hidden.I chose to read this
book because I wanted to read a book about a kid who is illegal. This book is about a kid who is forbidden by the
government. He spends his whole life hiding, and he is very lonely and has never had a friend. One day he looks out
the window and meets a third child like himself, her name is Jen.

"He liked to forget he was Luke Garner, third child hidden in the attic" (Among the Hidden,
Pg.33).The conflict of the story is that Luke wants to find a way to get out of hiding. When Luke's in hiding,he
litteraly has to be invisible for ANYONE (except his family) to see him. Finnaly, he finds a resolution, he meets
a young girl like him. A third child.

I overall thought that this book was excellent (star rating:4.6).It didn't have the best
story, but the suspense was pretty intense. I would recommened this book to readers who want a good book to read.
This is probably not a good book for young readers to read. This book is in probnably many bookstores and libraries
near you.

THE LAST APPRENTICE

I chose this book because I read the one before this one, and I liked it. This book is mostly about a boy [Tommy] in training to be a last apprentice. Also this book is about not only a boy named Tommy but about a spook that's halping him during his training. Another ting is that the spook finds out that his brother just died, and he has to go to Priest town for his funneral. But he really doesn't want to go, because he had a bad experince and that city is in so much danger of the bane. When the spook was really young he was in war with the bane, and the bane almost killed him. Also he knows that the king who ruled this town didn't like people who could defeat the darkness. B he really could't stand the spook or the apprentice.

'' That town is filled with devils''. [The Last Apprentice: CURSE OF THE BANE, page.21]

I enjoyed this book a lot. The reason I liked it was because, the spook faces his fear and goes to preist town. Although he knows the risks he still goes anyway. Also I like the way the spook wasn't afraid when the king arrested him for being in that city. Another thing I liked was the way the janitor helped Tommy escape captivity that night. I recommend this book to my best friend Emani. I would recommend this book to her, because she likes science-fiction books. Also I would like her to read this book, because this makes you wander and picture things. Also it gives you the creeps and chills, that's why I would recommend this book to her.

The Hunger Games

The book is written by Suzanne Collins. The name of the book is The Hunger Games. It is mostly about a girl named Katniss that had taken her sisters place in the games. The book describes what Katniss has to go through before the games start especially the opening ceremonies. The open ceromonies are for the tributes to represent their district. Two kids are chosen from each disrict it is also supposed to be a girl and a boy. The two kids have to be between ages 12 and 18. But are chosen randomly by the govenment. Did i mention that once the games start everything is shown on the T.V. becauseit is a live T.V. show. And in order yo win each player has to kill each other.

"I need to get down , to get going , but for a moment i lie there , digesting what ive heard. Not only is Peeta with the the Careers, hes helping them find me. The simpleminded girl who has to be taken seriously because of her 11. Because she can use a bow and arrow. Which Peeta knows better than anyone." This is a quote directly from the book that says the main problem of the book.

The book was really good. I liked it because it is iinteresting on what Katniss is seeing in the game. It is really brave to see bodies laying on the ground before being picked up. I would recommend the book to readers that enjoy reading action and a little romance every now and then. But action is mostly involved.

Hunger Games

I chose The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins because the plot sounded really fascinating. My teacher at Millikan Middle School, Ms. Bennett suggested it and I really liked it.

The Hunger Games takes place in a country called Panem, which used to be North America. In Panem there is the Capital and surrounding it are twelve districts. The people of the Capital are cruel and sadistic. They created something called The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games is a game where a boy and a girl from each district who are called tributes, are called to an arena to fight to the death. The last person alive and his district are awarded great wealth. The tributes are aged twelve to eighteen. When you turn 12 your name is entered in a sort of a lottery, and every year your name gets entered again until you turn 18, this is how the tributes are chosen.

The main character's name is Katniss and she is the girl tribute of district twelve. Katniss is 16 and she's a hunter, she hunts in the woods just outside of the district to feed her sister, Prim, and her mother. Here is a quote from the book, "I pull on a thick, fleecy nightgown and climb into bed. It takes about five seconds to realize I'll never fall asleep. And I need sleep desperately because in the arena every moment I give in to fatigue will be an invitation to death. It's no good. One hour, two, three pass, and my eyelids refuse to get heavy. I can't stop trying to imagine exactly what terrain I'll be thrown into. Desert? Swamp? A frigid wasteland? Above all I'm hoping trees, which may afford me some means of concealment and food and shelter" Katniss, page 141. Throughout the book in her struggle for survival Katniss must find or fight for food, supplies and weapons so she will be better prepared to win in the end. From the starting line, the Tributes race for the Cornucopia where they will find many supplies. Many of the Tributes die the first day in this struggle for supplies. In the arena Katniss has to fight a Tribute from district 9 over a backpack full of supplies. This book is about Katniss trying to survive in the Games.

The Hunger Games is an amazing book. I like this book because it shows how far a person will go to survive. I highly recommend it.

The Hunger Games By Suzanne Collins

For my book report I read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I thought The Hunger Games was so amazing because it had so much detail and it was filled with action and drama. It is about this girl Katniss who lives in District 12 with her mother and her little sister Prim. And her family is very poor and her and her friend Gale go out hunting so Katniss can feed her family. And every year for all the 23 districts, they do an even called the Hunger Games. This is where they pick a boy and a girl from each district and they take them to an arena and they have to survive in the middle of basically nowhere and they also basically have to kill everyone to win. So whoever is the last one living wins and gets to go back to their district. In district 12 though they have only had one winner from along time ago named Haymitch who pretty much helped them get prepared for the games. Though at the reaping which is where they pick the people's names for the Hunger Games, Prim, Katniss's 12 year old sister, gets picked which leaves Katniss in total shock. Unexpectedly, Katniss runs up the stage and volunteers to switch with Prim. Though Prim still doesn't want her to go but Katniss wants to do it for her sister. But then, they had to pick the boy, and the boy who got picked was Peeta, the last one who came up to Katniss's mind. She kept on thinking to herself, "Why Peeta!? Why him?" This was because when Katniss's family was starving to death, and Peeta didn't even know her, he gave her a piece of bread. And the only time they have seen eachother was at school. Though now Katniss was worried that she had to owe him something now. It gets very suspenseful wondering what their relationship will be like at the games. When they start heading for the training place, they are offered with tons of food, which leaves Katniss very happy unlike at District 12 where they have minimum offerings of food. Then after all the training they had done, they had to show the Career Tributes how good they were and they were going to announce in TV their scores. Katniss was the last one to go, after Peeta, though when she went she thought she ruined the whole thing because she though the career tributes were paying more attention to the food they had. So then she aimed her arrow to the apple on the table and made it right in the middle of the apple which left the career tributes shocked and staring at her. Then she left. Next day she was waiting nervously for the score. Ends up, she got the highest score! They ended up liking her attitude. Then after all the interviews, they were ready to go to the arena and start the Hunger Games. They found out the arena took place at a place where they sloughter pigs. Though they basically made it look like a forest. When they went in they were placed on a silver platform waiting for the horn to play which meant the games started. Though infront of them, a few feet away, were a bunch of stuff to survive. When the horn rang, everyone started killing eachother over everything! Though Katniss managed to get some things. Though that's when all the action started! I will not say everything that happened because I don't want to spoil it but it was really good. Though it was so suprising when the host announced that a whole tribute can come back together and not just one single person! Though the one twist Peeta and Katniss had to do was that they had to pretend they were in love to get a lot of sponsors. Its gets suspenseful every chapter. I basically cried when I was reading! Though I am giving part of the end away… They won! But there is more after that! So if you love drama and action then read this book cause it awesome!

The six kid were Max which is the main charter in the book, a girl named Angel witch is can read people mind, Iggy that is blind, Gasman that was gassy and Fang and Nudge. They were use as an experiment four years ago in this place called a School that were treated really badly and like animals. In the begining and girl named Angel was kidnaped buy the Earsers and there leader Ari. The Eareser are half-human and half-dogs that eat humans that are part bird and Ari is the guy that experiment Max and the other. Later the kids tried to find there parent in this building. When Max finds out that Ari might be realated to her.
If I were you I would read this book it is long but it is very amazing that these kids can last time with no family or parents and being experements with 98% of being a human and 2% being a bird. I would get this book in a Public Library and get Maximum Ride "School's Out".

Eldest

The first events in this book are the attack on Ajihad's life, his death and funeral and the disappearance of Murtagh and The Twins. They are two magicians of the Varden - who are captured by Urgals and assumed dead, and the election of a new leader of the Varden - Nasuada, Ajihad's daughter, to whom Eragon swears fealty following some internal politics among the Varden's Council of Elders.

By that time, Eragon has decided to go to Du Weldenvarden to pursue his training. After some adventures on the way, Eragon arrives at his destination and meets Islanzadí, the Elven Queen. he completes his training with the Mourning Sage or The Cripple Who Is Whole, Togira Ikonoka; who shielded Eragon in the first book. Eragon and Saphira begin their training with Oromis and his dragon Glaedr. Oromis and Glaedr escaped from Galbatorix, though with injuries: one of Glaedr's foreleg is cut off, and Oromis suffers from an incurable disease, leaving him vulnerable to sudden seizures. Eragon learns how to read and fluently speak the Ancient Language, as well to use various magic skills. While Eragon's feelings for Arya increase, he continues to train under Oromis and suffers repeated bouts of pain from the scar on his back that Durza, the Shade gave him. Nevertheless, he and Saphira grow steadily more powerful, but he is held back immensely by the pain from his scar. I recommend this book to readers with a great taste of adventure and action.

The Hunger Games

The book I read was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The reason I chose this book because the book sounded interesting. It sounded like a action packed book. The book is mostly about a boy named Katniss that offered to participate in The Hunger Games that to stay alive you have to kill other people. Two kids from different 12 districts are randomly picked to enter The Hunger Games.
"I volunteer as tribute". Katniss volunteers to become a tribute. It wasn't a good idea because she could have gotten killed. If she didn't volunteer she wouldn't of found about Peeta. Or maybe, just like the book said that she must have been jealous of Prim.

The Hunger Games was a very good book because a lot of action. I am so glad I read this book. My favorite thing about the book is the monster that fought Rue. If you like excitement or action read the book. This book should be your first choice on booklist.

Pendragon:The Merchants of Death

I chose Pendragon The Merchants of Death because the title and the descriptions of the book was interesting and had allot of details i really wanted to find out what was going to happen in the story. the cover was very mysterious because there was a door with a beam of light coming from the door and a star and a boy on the corner. The book was about a boy named Bobby who life changed when his uncle took him to a place called Denduron and now experiencing life in the flumes until he gets to his arrival know is learning what a traveler really is.

Uncle Press said," Bobby was confused with the difference in Quigs". Uncle Press explained to Bobby, "Quigs depend the territory on Second Earth, and they are wild animals that are special to each territory". Uncle Press thinks Bobby understands the difference between Quigs and thier territory. Page 51

Yes, I like the book so good because it was interesting journey that Uncle Press and Bobby was into. Also liked the little battles that happened in the book Osa had against the Beedowan knights how she won until she got killed by the ones that were in the forest.I would definitely recommend this book to some one because interesting and exciting.

The Dead and the Gone by Susan Beth Pfeffer

The Dead and the Gone
The Dead and the Gone is written by Susan Beth Pfeffer and the sequel to Life as we Knew It. It is a book that is great for middle school kids and teens.
The book's main character is Alex Morales and his family is from Puerto Rico so he speaks spanish. He is a normal 17 year old teen with a job at a pizza
parlor with 2 sisters, 1 older brother, a mom and a dad, his uncle and aunt. His sisters are Brianna and Julie, Brianna is 14 and Julie is 12. Carlos is
his older brother and he is in the Marines. His mom works at the hospital in the Queens and his dad was in Puerto Rico at his moms funeral. When the asteroid hit
nobody thought that anything was going to happen, but it turned out that the moon got closer too the earth and since the moon controls tidal waves a bunch of tsunamis
hit all the coastal countries. And then New York City started to flood and the subways and electricity didn't work, and both Alex's parents aren't home. So that meant that Alex was in charge until they got back. There would still be school on Monday. And the day after the asteroid hit his uncle got him and Julie to help him clear the store so robbers wouldn't get the food. So then he told them that they could grab as much food as they needed, only if they helped him. After 2 days Carlos called and said he was being moved to a different position and his mom was still not home. Alex lost his job when he went back to Joey's and got paid before so they still had money. Nothing on Broadway street was open everything was shut down. So what can happen next.

I read the book P.S Longer Letter Later. The authors are Paula Danziger and Ann M. Martin I chose this book because I read the back of the book and it got me interested on reading it. It is about these two girls , Tara * Starr and Elizabeth who are best friends . Then Tara* Starr moves away to Florida and the two girls want to continue their friendship , so they start writing letters to each other. "P.S. Longer Letter Later ." ( P.S. Longer Letter Later pg.72) This quote was sent to Elizabeth from Tara*Starr . This quote means that they will keep on writing long letters later. after that quote was written, the letters did get longer. they both asked questions to each other on their letters and then they would answer back.
I loved the book. It is my new favorite book. I got attached to it. Once i started reading, there was no going back. I liked how they talked to each other. If Elizabeth's parents had a financial problem, Tara * Starr was there to support her. I would recommend it to anyone that likes to read teen drama.

Among The Hidden

I read the book Among The Hidden by margaret Haddix. I chose Among The hidden because it was my second choice on the last book report .Also, when I read the description it seemed interesting.

My book is about a time when the government enforced couples to have only two children. Parents who were found to have more than two kids would have to give the third child to the government where they would be killed. Luke Garner was the third and youngest child. Luke had two brothers. Unlike his brothers, Luke has never been to school or even outside. He lived in the attic of their home like a prisoner. Luke was a "shadow child." Luke had to hide every day, all day and all night. All Luke was able to do each day is read.

One day when everyone had left, he saw a face in a house across the way. After a few days, Luke sneaks over to the house and opens the screen where he meets Jen, another shadow child. Startled at being seen herself, Jen knocks him over and asks who he is and where he lives. They soon become friends and confidants, due to the fact they both live the same type of life. Luke sneaks over periodically where he learns abot a chat room of hundreds of other shadow childred. Jen then tells him about a rally that all the shadow kids that she knows where they are planning to protest. Until the day before the rally they don't talkt. Luke is terrified of the reprecussions to him and his family if he attends the protest and in the end he doesn't go. He knows he would be killed.

After the rally Luke goes to Jens house and Jens dad threatens to kill luke. Then the population police knocks on the door. Jens dad then throws Luke into the closet. When the poplation police get in the house they don't start looking they talk to Jens dad because he is part of the population police. Luke gets to the back of the closet there is no door like Jens father said but as the population police open the door Luke hides underneath a blanket. The police don't look hard so they don't find Luke. After the poplation police leave Luke gets ot of the closet and waits a little bit because the population police will check Lukes house.

The Golden Compass: His Dark Material

I read The Golden Compass:His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. I chose this book because some of my friends have told me that it is a really good book. This book is mostly about a girl named Lyra who lives in a college and how her life changes when a woman named Mrs.Coulter comes and takes her to London. Later on, Lyra finds out that Mrs.Coulter was part of a community where they take childern away from their families. Lyra and her old friends called them the "Gobblers". Lyra runs away as far as she can and escapes from Mrs.Coulter. Then a family of gyptians take her in, as their own family member. Later, the family go to a meeting with their group leader, to talk about the Gobblers and how lots of their childern have gone missing. Lyra goes on an adventure to find the childern and bring them back to their original families.

A quote that is a major coflict in my book is: "Lord Faa and Farder Corman have gone to try and get your armor for you,"she said.(The Golden Compass:His Dark Materials, pg. 196) I chose this quote because this is the part when Lyra, Lord Faa, and Farder Corman are trying to get Iorek Byrnison's armor back from the people who stole it from him. It was hard finding the armor, beacuse the people who took it away from him hid it in their basement doing experiments on it. They need the armor back, because they are going north to find the missing childern and Lyra's father Lord Aserial who was capturied by the Bears. Without the armor the bear is not so strong, it is like his soul, but also if any trouble lies ahead he can help save them. Later in the story Iorek Byrnison needs his armor because he must fight the Bears King, and without his armor he will lose and die.

I loved the book, it was very interesting and very descriptive. This book is now one of my favorite. I am really glad I found this book. I liked it because it is about adventure and taking risks. Once you start reading it you can not put it down. Well, that is how it was for me. I recommend this book to anyone who loves adventure and fiction.

Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment

The book I read for my book report review is Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment. It is book one of the series. The author is James Patterson, one of America's favorite storytellers (he wrote many books). It's about six kids that are 98% human and 2% bird. And they can fly. They have no parents that they know. that is why they are trying to figure out if they are test tube babies or human babies. If they are human babies, they don't have any information to find them. The 6 kids are Maximum Ride (known as Max, the leader/mom) who is 14, Fang (Mr. Calm, Cool, and Controlled) who is 14, Iggy (blind, can pick locks, the best at bomb builder, and fire starter) who is 14, Nudge who is 11 (known as talk a lot),Gasman (known as Gazzy the brave little one) who is 8, and last of all Angel who is 6 years old (she can read minds). Gasman and Angel are the only blood related people of the family. Iggy went blind because the idiot scientist in the School wanted to give him night vision better with surgery- of course. The School is in Death Valley. It is more of a lab because they extract animal DNA and genetics and put it in helpless human babies. Only 2 of the hundreds of abusive experiments were a success that is known to the readers who read this extravagant book. These are the flock and Erasers. It is a funny name but once you realize what and who they are they are the worst things to the flock. Erasers are half human and live to be 6 years. The other half is wolf. They eat raw meat and want to kill Max and her flock. They have long teeth and claws and are faster than an average adult or human wrestler. They are really deadly and can kill and hurt people for no reason. Let me get to my point now; the flock is running for their lives away from the School and Erasers, for god knows what those idiot white coats (meaning: those scientists) would do to them if they Max and her family got stuck in a lab cage. These scientists gave the flock wings and assorted powers. But one white coat, Jeb, (a father of a son that got turned into an Eraser after Jeb left) felt sorry for them, and helped them go free. He disappeared from the flock's home 2 years ago. He was like a father, he taught them how to fly, self defense, and other than that, anything a normal father would do. He would give them dinner and make sure they ate 3000 calories a day (told you they are different than an average human). The reason they differ is because the flock's bones are thin, light, and still very sturdy. They have extra and strong muscles. Their heart is more efficient. And of course, they need to eat a lot. Max is the main, major character. In the beginning of the book Angel is captured by Erasers. Max, Fang, and Nudge go to the School (a bad place to go when there running away from it) to get Angel back. Along the way when they are flying (during Max's rescue mission)Max goes down and saves this girl called Ella from 3 armed teenage boys. Then when she hurts them and runs she actually got shot. She finds Ella's house and asks for help for her shot wing and shoulder. There she blurts out the secret to Ella and her mom. Iggy and Gasman are left home as they build a secret bomb and destroy the house (really dumb). Nudge and Fang go to the lake where they are supposed to wait for Max and became friends with the hawks that lived close by. Gasman and Iggy come to the lake because Erasers were covering the mountain where their house was. Then all 5 of them go off together to find Angel but get captured by Erasers. They get sent to the school. Luckily Gasman and Iggy did not get caught. But when the door opens Jeb, comes in their cage room… Max was taken to a room and Jeb told her she was supposed to save the world. Max refused the idea and when the white coats came to tell they herded all the doggy crates outside. Ari (son of Jeb) continuously kicked Max's crate until it tips over. Max is so close to Angel's crate that Max managed to unlatch Angel. She flew away as ordered. Then as if a big gray storm cloud came Max knew they were the hawks led by Iggy and Gasman. There was a bloody scene, the hawks and the flock battering up the white coats and Erasers. Max somehow broke free and undid the latches of Fang and Nudge. From the corner of her eye, Max saw Angel to weak to run as she collapsed into a crawl as 2 white coats chased after her. Max got there first and savagely hurt them. Then she threw Angel up into the air. Angel unfurled her wings just in time and shot up in the air, flying. Meanwhile, Fang was boiling with anger/fury, eyes cold with lots of determination. He punched a white coat and the scientist eyes rolled back. Iggy signaled that the battle was over and the hawks returned to the sky. As they left they felt a great wave of relief—School is out—Forever! But Jeb called out Max's name and yelled that it was all a test. He was mingled with the huge crowd and his coat was bloody. Max knew it he got in a battle with a hawk. Max thought about him—he taught her almost everything she knew, comforted her, cheered her on, and the closet guardian she had in her life. I don't think so, she thought to herself. After all, Jeb became a white coat again. He was evil now. The one person she could trust became an evil white coat. After a whole flying she suddenly had a brain attack/stroke. Fang swooped down to her aid. He carried her until Max found her head again. Fang landed. They set up a camp and started a fire. 20 minutes later they explored the limits for something that could be cooked on a stick. They ate up quickly, before it got cold. Then Angel said she heard that they were human babies. And maybe, they still had human parents still alive. She said the information was in a New York. The ending is too good for me to reveal as they go to New York to get info to find their parents data/location. I know it is really confusing and a lot to take in—but the book and Mr. Patterson explains it a lot better.

"The six of us were homeless, aimless, on the run --- and might be for the rest of our lives, however long or short they might be." (Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment, pg. 215) This book as I've already told you is about 6 kids running away from the School. The Erasers keep on tracking them down. In New York, Max, meets one of her many enemies, Ari. The major conflict is when Ari and Max get in a final showdown. They both get nasty bruises and cuts during the fight. Bones will crack as well. One will only remain standing, and the other one will die. They are both heavy fighters, strong and really powerful. It was not just fighting either, they told each other many nasty things that were heart breaking/sickening. They don't know that inside themselves they actually cared for one another but they don't know that is what they are actually thinking that.

Even though it is around 422 pages it goes by a bit to fast. You don't want it to stop- it is that phenomenal. I chose this book because when I heard that it was about 6 kids engineered to fly, I decided I had to read it! Don't get me wrong that I'm a picky reader or anything, 'cause I LOVE reading—a lot! I read all the books in the series right after I finished book one. I love all the characters ecpecially Max. They are probably the best books I have read so far. You just zip through the pages. I also would not recommend it to anyone who: does not like blood, killing, or/and pain (i.e. punching, kicking). If you really like romance don't read it--- there is only one kiss that lasted 1.7 seconds. There are funny scenes. I would recommend it to anyone who is ready to come along the ride. I really loved this book and would recommend it to people who also enjoy nonstop action, mystery, and suspense. These pages really do fly, so strap up for the ride, Maximum Ride.

Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

The title of the book is Hitchhikers' Guide To The Galaxy, by Douglas Adams. I chose this because the book is very adventurous and so exciting. The book is mostly about a man named Arthur Dent who goes on an adventure and has to go through some obstacles. "The ships about to orbit. there's a planet out side and it's at the exact coordinate you predicted". I like the book because it's a mystery and an adventure book. I would recommend this book to middle schoolers who love to read mystery adventurous books. The book talks about the obstacles they overcame and the courses that it took them to get in space. I would also recommend this book to people who love to learn about science and all the wonderful details of the universe.

Hunger Games

The book I read is called The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. This book is about a 16 year old
old girl named Katniss living in a country named Panem.Panem is the ruins of North America in
the future. There are 12 districts in Panem including the Capitol that rules the districts.Every year
the Capitol has somthing called The Hunger Games .The Hunger Games is were all of the
districts fight each other for survival and who ever wins gets food for thier district. The Capitol
makes you send a boy and a girl from each district from 12-18 years of age.The Hunger Games
were made to remind the districts never to go against the Capitol again, therefore they made
The Hunger Games as punishment to the districts.Katniss lives in district 12(which is kind of
poor)where she hunts animals in the woods(which is illegal)for food for her family.Katniss has
a 12 year old sister named Prim and a mother. Her dad died by an explosion that happened
when he was in a mine.It ends up happening that Prim gets chosen to be in The Hunger Games.
Then Katniss volunteers to be in The Hunger Games so that Prim doesnt have to go.I picked
this book becuase when i read the summary of it I just couldn't deny reading it.I mean it has
romance, action, adventure, suspence, and survival you just can't put this book down.
A quote from the book that shows Katniss' major conflict is when she says " I twist and scuttle
backwards on my hands and feet, shrieking, trying to remove myself from the horror."This part
is when Katniss is in the The Hunger Games(in the woods)and her knee got hit by a fire ball.
Her knee is scorching with pain as she tries to get away from the wall of fire that throws the
the fireballs. When she gets to water she puts her knee in it,it soothes the pain from the knee
thats bloody. She learned to put water on watever part of her body was burned when she
used to make fire in the fireplace for warmth.
Honestly I loved this book I couldn't put this book down. The Hunger Games leaves readers hungry
for more. This book has a lot of suspence, it keeps readers wondering.I would recommend
this book to people who love action, adventure,a little romance, and suspenceful packed book.
Trust me The Hunger Games is like nothing you have read in a long time.

Flowers for Algernon

I chose the book Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes because I have an interest in psychiatry
and pathos in the human mind. I also liked that the story was in a 1st person biography. The book
was mostly about a retarded adult named Charlie Gordon. He goes to a University for retarded adults.
He is used by some psychiatrists who boost his IQ from a 68 to a complete genius.
"I told dr Strauss and prof Numer I cant rite good but he says it dont matter he says I should rite
just as I talk and like I rite compushishens in mis Kinnians class at the beekmin collidge centerr for retarted adults where I go 3 times a week on my time off." (Flowers for Algernon, pg. 1) I think this quote explains the conflict in the book because the conflict is that Charlie is retarded but wants to be smart. He wants to read and write but he can't. He's retarded but has great motivation. A good example is the time when he was in the lab and was trying desperately to compete with a mouse who already had the operation to be gifted. He tried it 10 times and Algernon always won.
I adored this book because it was really interesting to read about someone's life and watch them progress. I felt like I was almost experiencing his life since it was written from his point of view. I would recommend this book to people who are interested in psychology, and if you don't like fairy tales this book is for you.

Flowers For Algernon

I read the book Flowers For Algernon, by Daniel Keyes I chose to read this book because it was a difficult book and I was intrigued by its topic. This book is mostly about a man named Charlie Gordon who is a mentally retarded adult. There are 2 scientists who have created a surgery that will make Charlie a genius. Unfortunately, this procedure is not permanent so about 7 months later, Charlie starts forgetting things he has learned. He was the one who found out that his brain was going to start deteriorating. It hit him hard but he knew that he couldn't do anything about it.
"Artificially-induced intelligence deteriorates at a rate of time directly proportional to the quantity of the increase," Charlie said as he revealed the operation was not permanent in a letter to Professor Nemur. (Flowers for Algernon, pg. 255) Charlie found out, using his intelligence, that he wasn't going to be smart forever. Thats what happened to Algernon, the test mouse who had the surgery first. Algernon had erratic behavior and was very stubborn. At first the Professor didn't know what it was about but when Charlie started having the same kinds of behavior, they realized that when their brain deteriorates, they begin to have erratic and stubborn behavior, and emotional mood swings. Charlie and the scientists got into many feuds and couldn't figure out why. Professor Nemur thought it was because Charlie was a self-centered brat but really it was be cause of artifficialy-induced intelligence deteriorates at a rate of time directly proportional to the quantity of the increase.
I loved this book. It has so much emotion and so much passion its almost like the author really was going through this kind of emotions. Charlie had such a character. He was excited, scared, upset, anxious, nervous, happy, stubborn and a whole bunch more. I felt like I could relate to him because this author didn't just make a character he put a little bit of himself into the book, a little bit of humanity in the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to be a part of the book, to cry, laugh, and relate to the character. I love this book.

A Wrinkle in Time

I chose this book for my book report blog because I thought that it would be interesting because it sounded like you would travel through time. This book is about 3 friends Meg, Charles Wallace, Calvin who go on adventure to save their planet and find a loved one. They encounter a great enemy and face many obstacles which brings them to the edge of their life. This book is a must read which will make you feel like you are experiencing it while reading it.The characters in this book all have a hard time until they go on an adventure that they could never forget. The is also a movie that you can watch but it is different from the book.

"You mean you will let Charles be caught by IT forever?", said Meg. A Wrinkle in Time pg.139
Meg said this in a shrilly voice which really brought her quality of character out. It means she has lots of anger inside of her which comes out when what she thought would happen didn't happen. Charles Wallace is token over by the man with the red eyes who is under control of IT. IT controls all of Camazotz and Central Central Intelligence. They follow Charles Wallace until they reach a transparent column in which their father is in. They came on the mission to save him but they cant so they thought they could use the glasses from Mrs. Who to tesser and get inside. It did not work so they used the glasses and just walked in. They were ale to rescue themselves and save Charles from IT thanks to the help of the witches and Mr. Murry. They had been able to destroy the darkness that was killing the universe.

I liked this book because it was a adventure packed book. It had many interesting and mysterious parts. Everything was wrong at the beggining but then at the end when everyone was there it was all finally done and everybody would be able to live happily ever after. I would reccomend this book to those people who love mystery and suspension. Some parts it gets so interesting that you cant wait to go on and read the rest. Hope you like this book

Wrinkle In Time

I chose this book The Wrinkle In Time because first of all when i looked at the cover it looked pretty cool and exciting. Second of all i looked at the description on the back of the book made this Sci-Fi Adventure even better which made me choose this book. The Wrinkle In Time is about these 3 children (Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin) and they went off to an adventure to save there father who has suddenly dissapeared. They go through many hardships which was pretty amazing. The setting was also amazing for example camozat. This setting is like a neighborhood but the kids and familys do things always the same and they always seem to be dull and boring. So Meg, Calvin, and Charles Wallace travel through the neighborhood to get to there destination which is pretty much on the way to save there father. When they reach there destination they got trapped by these people who were like agents so they had to fight through them. So the main reason is that they went through many hardships just to save Meg/Charles Wallace father.

"It seemed to travel with her, to sweep her aloft in the power of song, so that she was moving in glory among the stars, and for a moment she, too, felt that the words Darkness and Light had no meaning, and only this melody was real."

I Love this book because it was a fantasy adventure action book and those are my favorite kinds of books. This book is so interesting you cant expect anything thats going to happen which was cool because for me i could predict the next thing that is going to happen which made the book really weird for me but for the Wrinkle In Time i cant predict the next thing to happen because its so unexpected which makes this book so lovable. I would recommend this book to whoever like sci-fi action adventures.

Flowers for Algernon

For my book report I read Flowers for Algernon. I choose this book, because it has a very unusual and interesting topic. This book is about a low I.Q man named Charlie Gordon, who was chosen to be the first person who got an operation to increase his intelligence. This experiment was only done on a lab mouse named Algernon. After the operation week by week Charlie kept getting smarter and smarter which caused some changes in his life. He stared  remembering about about his past and family, and also started to have feelings for his old teacher Alice. How absurd I was sitting in his shop waiting for him to pat me on the head and say good boy. Flowers for Algernon pg.187. This scene takes place at the barber shop Matt [ Charlie's dad] owns. Charlie just got enough courage to go his shop get a haircut and see if he will still remember him. While Matt was giving Charlie a haircut Charlie was
moving his head and he cut him in the back of his head. Charlie started remembering about the past how his mother was yelling in the middle of the night. She was Matt I can't live with him anymore, Norma [Charlie's little sister] won't be normal with him. Send him to Warren State Home or I will kill him! Maybe we should talk about this later it is late. No take him away now! I loved this this book it is amazing! I recommend this book for people who like science fiction. This book has to be on your book list, because it has romance, suspense, and a couple of tragedies. But every kid should read

UGLIES

I read the book UGLIES by Scott Westerfeld. I chose this book because I saw that this book was different from any other book I have read. Also because in the cover of the book UGLIES it said that it was one of ''New York Times Bestsellers. What this book is mostly about is a teenager named Tally. Tally is about to turn sixteen. And everyone said that you had to stay ugly until the age sixteen. At the age sixteen surgeons will give you an operation on your face to make you a pretty, and go live at the city of ''New Pretty Town.'' But her best friend Shay doesn't want to turn pretty. Will Tally ever turn pretty? Or will she stay ugly for life?

''I'm not afraid of looking the way I do, Tally.''(UGLIES PG.84) The major problem in this book is that Tally's best friend Shay doesn't want to turn pretty. But Tally does want to turn pretty to see all her other friends that turned pretty. If Tally has the operation she might never see her friend Shay again.

I liked the book. The book UGLIES was very special to me. I couldn't stop reading the book! I have never read a book just like this one. I recommend this book to all teenage girls. I recommend this book to teenage girls because if I liked it and all my other friends liked it that could mean that a lot of other teenage girls would love this book. This was one of the best books I have ever read.

Ranger's Apprentice: Ruins of Gorlan

I read the book The Ranger's Apprentice: Ruins of Gorlan by John Flanagan . This book is the first book in the series The Ranger's Apprentice. The name of this book caught my eye as I was skimming through my book report book list and I thought, "What is Gorlan?" and, "What does a Ranger's Apprentice do?" My head was buzzing with questions, and so I decided to pick it up and read. This book is about 15 year old Will, an orphan, who has dreamed of going to Battle School and becoming a Knight. However, on Choosing Day when he is turned down by the Battle Master, his hopes are crushed. Halt, a Ranger had requested for Will to be his apprentice and Will doesn't know what to expect. The Rangers have always made everyone feel uneasy. Will doesn't know that there is a battle ahead with the Kalkara, a deadly creature with a stare that can kill and that the Rangers have to stop them before they reach the kingdom.
"I need apprentices my lord," he said "but this one's too small." (Ranger's Apprentice: Ruins of Gorlan, pg. 28) I chose this quote for the main conflict of the story for several reasons. Everyone is always judging Will on his size. Even Horace, Will's ward mate, bullied him because he was small, which later in the story turns into a fight. In the beginning, no one really saw skill within Will except Halt. Two Craft Masters turned him down for his size. Will proves that you don't have to be a warrior, knight or even a King to be a hero. He proved himself at a Boar Hunt and when he fought the Kalkara. That is why I thought that quote was the main conflict of the story.
I loved this book so much! It is my new favorite. I give it five out of five stars for its detail of the fight between Alda, Jerome, Bryn (the three bullies). I also it give 5 stars because of the way that John Flanagan described Will's feelings and thoughts. I would definitely recommend this book to people who like fantasy and medieval themes. I couldn't stop reading this book and I hope more people will start to read it. Warning: There is some violence in this book.

The Hunger Games

I chose the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, because the plot of the book sounded very interesting to me. This book is about a country called Panem , which is what is left of North America after a war. Panem is broken up into 12 districts. You follow the journey of a 16 year old girl named Katniss living in district 12 (a mostly poor district). She has struggles to support her mother and 12 year old sister Prim, after her father dies. She has to hunt (which is illegal) to support her family. When the annual reaping comes along that's when she really has to fight for her life. Children from the ages of 12 to 18 are entered into a drawing that will determine which boy and girl compete in The Hunger Games. In The Hunger Games the 24 kids chosen, fight in a battle against each other, last one standing keeps their life and gets more food for their district. Prim gets chosen in the drawing, but Katniss steps up as a loving sister to take her place. Katniss then goes on a journey where there is survival, romance, and many other hardships.
A quote that shows Katniss's major conflict is: "Every sense I have goes into overdrive as the need to survive takes over." (The Hunger Games ,pg.175). Katniss has to put all her effort into surviving. Any sudden motion can bring death. Her mind has to be alert at all times. She also has to provide herself with food and water. There is major stress put on her, knowing she could die at any moment. She has to be ready to move if she spots an enemy. Katniss is in the wild all on her own, and as more and more people die, it makes it harder to hide. The girl has to plan every move with care. She wants to make it back home to her sister and mother, so winning the games is very important.
I loved The Hunger Games because it was so exciting. The book was very surprising and it was hard for me to put it down. It combined action with a bit of romance. You fall in love with the book in the first chapter. It doesn't take long for the action to start. I wold recommend this book to anyone who loves an action packed page turner. If you like exciting books that are fiction you will love The Hunger Games.

Sword of the Rightful King

I read the book Sword of the Rightful King by Jane Yolen. I picked this book because I love to read about King Arthur and the cover interested me because it had a beautifully detailed sword on it. This book is mostly about how all of Britain disrespected King Arthur's ability to lead them because he was not the son of Uther Pendragon. It is also about Arthur's mage, Merlinnus who creates a sword stuck inside a stone that can only be pulled out by the rightful king of Britain. Merlinnus created this so the people would be loyal to Arthur.
" 'Everyone wants the throne,' Arthur repeated, ' Everyone but me' " (Sword of the Rightful King, pg.45). In this chapter Arthur and his brother, Kay, are discussing that Morgause had sent an assassin, and about anyone else who would do that as well. I chose this quote because it shows the disloyalty of most other kings and princes. I also chose this quote to explain that the importance of Arthur's position doesn't matter if his subjects were not loyal.
I thought this book was phenomenal. The depth and emotion used in this book had me turning pages. I also admire all the unexpected twists and turns that this story took. I recommend this book for anyone who likes King Arthur and/or anyone who likes books about magic. I loved this book so much and I hope one day you'll pick it up and love it too.

Fantasy, Dragons, Science Fiction(Sci-Fi)

Eldest is a book written by Christopher Paolini and is the sequel to the book Eragon. The book Eldest starts from where an after attack of horrible monsters, called Urgals, had killed the leader of Farthen Dur, Ajihad, which left Eragon to follow Ajihad's last request. His request applies that Eragon should protect the Varden from falling and that Eragon should continue his journey into Du Weldenvarden where he'll have to train with the elves in Ellesmera. After Ajihad's funeral, his daughter, Nasuada had then taken the throne. She has told Eragon of their plan to move over to Surda and lure the empire over there to a war. She then gives Eragon one more quest, then he leaves for Tarnag with Arya, Saphira, and Orik...
Meanwhile, back at Carvahall, Eragon's old friend, Roran, gets into trouble as Galbatorix sends in Ra'zac and soldiers there to retrieve more information about Eragon. Roran then hides out in the Spine for safety until the intruders leave. But they never left, so there's a chance that the citizens would just turn Roran in instead of just creating a war. So he and his friends make plans to get rid of them without having to deal with them over and over again!
So, Eragon has to travel onto Tarnag, and then move forward to Hedarth, and into Du Weldenvarden so that he could continue his journey onto Ellesmera to train for the battle in Surda. He just has to keep his profile low from the empire and continue his quest without getting into more danger...

the hunger games

The book I read was the huger games' chose the hunger games because I read the review on the paper to choose the book and this book stood out the most to me. The hunger games are about a girl named katiniss and a boy named peeta. To katniss and peeta have to go into an arena and try to hunt for food, water and find shelter on their own. They have to kill people from the other districts in order to win. Well katniss and peeta get split up. Katniss ends up finding a girl named rue and they became friends. Katniss asked rue to be her allay and the split up. A few days later katniss hears a yell, it was rue. As soon as she heard the frightening noise she went to find her, just in case she brought a bow and arrow and a knife. When she found rue she saw a boy killing her. So katniss grabbed her bow ready and shoots him in the neck, and his died. Katniss took rue out of the net and a spear in her stomach. Then rue had asked katniss to sing to her until she died. While katniss was singing she dies and she buried rue with flowers. When katniss goes back to where her shelter is she finds peeta. When she saw him he was covered in bruises and cuts. Then she took him and changed him into new clothes and cleaned him up. Then she saw that peeta had a fever, she gave him some medicine then his fever went down, but it's not all better.

The conflict of the story is when katniss finds that peeta is dying. Katniss does everything she can to save his life and in time what she had done helps him. Peeta ends up fine and in the end the quote is "you're not going to die." I told him firmly

I did like the book because at times it Is super scary. Imagine how terrifying it is to die very painfully. Also how nerve wracking it is with all these questions stuck in my head "will katniss die or win?" "It peeta going to be okay?" I would recommend this book to people who like books with life taking riscks, People who like scary stories

Life As We Knew It

"Life as We Knew It" by Susan Beth Pfeffer is the book that I chose for my blog. I chose that book because a lot of my friends have read it, and said it was a good book. This book is mostly about a girl named Miranda and her diary, and how it tells about her family's survival after a meteor knocks the moon closer to earth. In the girl's diary, It tells about how hard it was to survive with little amounts of items, such as food. It also talks about how different it was to live with all of the changes that had happened.
"It was terrifying, and you could feel the panic sweel all around us."(Life as We Knew It, pg. 19) The problem in this paragraph is that the after the meteor hit the moon, everyone was scared and worried. People started driving away. Other people began praying. One household began singing "The Star Spangled Banner".
Yes, I really liked the book. I liked it because I've always wondered what would happen if something happened to the moon. Now I have some ideas of what could happen. I would recommenend this book to someone who likes Science fiction.

Things Not Seen

I read the book Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements. I chose this book because invisibility has always been something that interests me. This book is about a teenager, Bobby Phillips, who wakes up on February 23 and soon realizes that he is invisible. Bobby is trying, and learning, how to live his life being invisible. He tells his parents and they don't believe it. Bobby goes back up to sleep and when he wakes up, he finds a note from his parents saying that they went to work and will be back later. Bobby is upset but he decides that he wants go out to the library. Bobby walks around with no clothes on so he is completely invisible for a little while. When Bobby is done in the library, he starts to walk out the door. Suddenly, he accidentally walks into a girl who he soon discovers is blind. Bobby's life starts to change as he gets to know the blind girl named Alicia.

"Now you're back to school and friends and girls and prom and college and everything, you're back and I'm not." (Things Not Seen, pg. 248) This quote describes how much Alicia really liked having a friend like Bobby. She really missed having a normal life. When she met Bobby she was happy because she had a problem and so did he. She figured that she could help Bobby and she thought that was a nice change. She was tired of being the girl people always felt sorry for and avoided.

I really loved this book! It kept me entertained and interested the whole way through. I loved Andrew Clement's style of writing. I especially loved Alicia's character. I also enjoyed the drama and the story line of this book! I would definitely recommend this book to anybody, but especially people who love a sweet ending. Things Not Seen should be at the top of your to do list!

the titans curse

I read the book The Titans Curse from the series Percy Jackson and The Olympians. I chose this book because it looked very interesting and was part of the series I am already reading. This book is mostly about Percy Jackson and his friends going on a quest to save Artemis the hunt goddess. Percy lost her friend Annabeth who has been captured along with Artemis. In addition, they must find out what the doomsday monster is before winter solstice ends because Annabeth and Artemis have been captured by it.

"And for your sixteenth birthday you will overthrow Olympus" (The Titans Curse, pg.233). This quote is talking about Thalia the daughter of Zeus. It explains that Thalia is turning sixteen in two days and in the prophecy it says that the son or daughter of the big three who reaches age sixteen first will have the power to destroy Olympus or save Olympus from the titan lord Kronos. The titan lord is trying to trick Thalia into helping him destroy mount Olympus.

I like this book in every way because it had many action sequences and was very interesting. I also enjoyed the book because was well written and explained everything very thoroughly. I would recommend this book to readers who like science fiction and Greek mythology. Also, I would recommend this book to people who already know a little about Greek mythology.

Things not seen

I read the book called, "Things Not Seen," by Andrew Clements. The reason I chose this book is because I thought a book about a boy who turns invisible one day would be great to read. You have to figure out how he became invisible and if he is the only person in the world who became invisible. This book is mostly about a boy named Bobby.
One quote from the book is,"It's when I turn on the bathroom light and wipe the fog off the bathroom mirror to comb my hair. It's what I see in the mirror. It's what I don't see. I look a second time, and then rub at the mirror again. I'm not there." This quote is explaining the day when he disappeared.
I really liked this book because it hooks you into it and you don't want to stop reading the book. I think that people who like Science Fiction books will like this book. It also has some romance and amazing writing by Andrew Clements. This is a good book for both boys and for girls.

Brisingr

This is where I begin paragraph one for my book report review on the book Brisingr by Christopher Paolini. I chose the book Brisingr because I read the book Eragon for my last book report and loved it. Also because I was reading Eldest at the time the assignment was received and it made sense for me to read the third book in the series. The novel is continuing the story of dragon rider Eragon and his dragon Saphira. They are fighting against King Galbatorix's empire alongside the rebellion group the Varden. The story mainly involves their struggle against the empire and their responsibilities of dragon and rider.

This is where I begin paragraph two for my book report review. "I am decided. Sword, I name thee Brisingr!" (Brisingr, pg.682)In the second book, Eldest, the character Murtagh steals Eragon's sword Zar'roc. Eragon receives two new swords: a falchion and a dwarf-made one. Both get destroyed. Eragon is in desperate need for a new one by the time he travels to the elves in Ellesmeera. When he is with the elves he gets one of the elves to help make him a new sword. It is magically protected from breaking, rusting, fire, and harmful magic. Eragon named it Brisingr which in the ancient language is fire.

This is where I begin paragraph three for my book report review. I ADORED Brisingr. It was the best book I've ever read except for Twilight. The author really makes the book com to life. It's unbelievable. I have read it three times since the start of winter break. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a love for fantasy or dragons. Seriously people, read it. It's good.

Kissing Doorknobs

I read the book Kissing Doorknobs by Terry Spencer Hesser. It is about a girl named Tara Sullivan who is suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder. (OCD) I chose to read this book because I had heard about OCD before and wanted to learn more about it. No one knows that Tara has OCD, so her friends and family think she is crazy. Her OCD starts when she hears the phrase "Step on a crack, break your mother's back." When she heard it, every day when she walked to school, she had to count all of the cracks. If she lost count or was distracted, she would have to go back home and start over. Tara's friends stop hanging out with her. Her parents fight because they don't know what is wrong with their daughter. Kids laugh at Tara's habits and her little sister Greta is willing to beat up anybody that picks on her and was suspended many times for that. One day, one of Tara's dad's friends comes over because he thinks he knows what Tara has. The man gives Tara's parents a name of a psychiatrist who works with kids who have OCD. The doctor helps Tara overcome her OCD and introduced her to another kid with OCD named Sam. Tara and Sam start to develop a relationship, but things start to take a turn for the worse... "But I couldn't not think the thoughts. And I couldn't not count the cracks." (Kissing Doorknobs, pg. 3) Every time Tara starts a new ritual, she can't stop. She can't get the thought out of her mind and they only get worse. I think this book was very well-written because it explains all of the hard-ships people with OCD go through. I would recommend this book to people who know people with OCD, people who have OCD, and people who want to helps others suffering from OCD. Heather H. Ms. Bennett Period 1

Pretties

i chose this book because i was reading uglies and i want to read the rest of the series. The book is mainly about a girl named tally living the life of a pretty. She climbes buildings rides hoverboards and finds love. This is the type of book that has every thing in it. Romance, action, suprise, and so much more! "David?" she said softly. While tally is in the pretty world David is not with her. David is a old friend of Tally's back in the smoke. Tally is surprised to see David because they haven't seen each other for a little over a year. When she gets there and hears his voice she automatically knows it is him. I loved the book a lot! In the first few chapters it is a little boring. Once you get to part 2 it starts to get really exciting. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to be off there seat when reading. I would also recommend this book to people who like a little bit of everything. This book was wonderful but sometimes it is hard to understand what they are talking about.
