The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
I selected The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, by Kate Di Camillo, because I read and enjoyed The Tale of Despereaux, by Kate Di Camillo, and wanted to read another one of her books.
Edward Tulane is a porcelain rabbit who was very happy because he was owned by a little girl Abilene. Abilene loved him to pieces, and treated him as though he was a real rabbit. They were both as happy as can be until one day Edward was lost. Edward goes on an amazing journey to many different places—from deep in the ocean to hobo campsite, and even to an ailing girl's bedside. It teaches you that no matter what happens in your life, there will always be at least one person who loves you. It also makes you think about every day situations in a different way then you are used to thinking about them.
One of the lessons Edward learns, and the author imparts to the reader, is to keep your heart open. "Someone will come. Someone will come for you, but first you must open your heart." These words play over and over in Edward's head. They are the moral of the story.
I rate this book ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ based on the following rating system:
♥ Boring
♥ ♥ Not the Best
♥ ♥ ♥ Interesting
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Fun to Read
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Can't put it Down
I recommend this book to everyone ten years and older. It is interesting, exciting, makes you think. There are some emotionally depressing parts in the book, however, and anyone who may be bothered by that should not read the book.
