Vampire Plagues: London, 1850

I read the book Vampire Plagues: London, 1850 by Sebastian Rook. This book was my selection because vampires have been popular over the past year, (Twilight, etc). I was deciding between this book or one of the Twilight series, but then I realized, too many kids already read Twilight so I chose this book.

Vampire Plagues is about a boy named Benedict Cole who went on a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula with his dad and 2 other professors. Benedict's dad is a professor who studies ancient civilization, on this particular trip; he's studying the Mayans. The other professors: Edwin Sherwood and Sir Donald study animals and archaeology. Deep in a forest, they find a cave blocked with thorns and infested with vampire bats. All is well until the cave collapses and Sir Donald is trapped, luckily they rescue him, but he seems…different. What's wrong with him and is he dangerous to all of mankind? Read Vampire Plagues to find out.

The quote I chose from my book is ("Hell!" he whispered). This quote is important because it describes what Benedict witnessed in the Yucatan Peninsula. After he says that quote, the truth unfolds of what happened on that trip.

My rating system is 5 black bats= Amazing, 1 black bat= Terrible. I chose bats as my rating icons because this is a vampire book and the bats are the servants of the vampire master. In the book they can shape-shift into regular human beings to hide their identity. So my rating for this book is 5 black bats= Amazing! Vampire Plagues definitely deserves a 5 out of 5, it's fun, historical, and gruesome.

This is a vampire book. People who love vampires will like this book; unfortunately, there's no romance like Twilight. And there are some gross parts in the book, so if you're a vampire romance type, you won't really like this book. Vampire Plagues is for people who like action, adventure, history, and some gross parts.
